Use Our Money To Bring Them Home

Despite the strong opposition of 82% of the Iraqi People and an ever mounting death toll, Bush insists on continuing his armed occupation of Iraq.

Congress must now take the lead on bringing the troops home.

Rep McGovern's "End the War in Iraq Act" would allow Pentagon funds to be used only to provide for the orderly withdrawal of US troops and costs associated with transition to an Iraqi/international security structure.

Dear Honorable, I request that you to become an original co-sponsor on Rep. Jim McGovern’s "End the War in Iraq Act of 2005", which will end funding for the military occupation of Iraq. Our occupation is feeding the violence in Iraq. Too many US troops and Iraqis have died in a war that was based on lies that emanated from the White House about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Additionally, it has been reported that a poll conducted by the British Defense Ministry found that 82% of Iraqis strongly oppose the occupation and less than one percent think that occupation is improving security. To claim that we know better than the people of Iraq what is best for Iraq is the height of arrogance. It’s time to bring our troops home. I respectfully submit that it is time for you to provide leadership on this issue and actively work to bring the troops home by co-sponsoring Rep McGovern’s bill. The bill would allow Pentagon funds to be used only to provide for the orderly withdrawal of US troops and costs associated with transition to an Iraqi/international security structure. The bill would allow funding to carry out civil reconstruction of Iraq. Please let me know if you will co-sponsor this bill.
