Support Rep. Murtha's Efforts to Bring the Troops Home!

Congressman John Murtha (D-PA), longtime congressional hawk, has taken a historic stand and has come out against the war in Iraq and for bringing our troops home. A decorated Korean and Vietnam war veteran, Murtha understands the realities of war.

Republicans have sought to portray Murtha's call for the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq as "cutting and running." However, the facts suggest that the war supporters, blinded by partisanship, are cutting and running from reality. A recent poll done for the British government found that 82% of Iraqis want us to leave their country.

Attacks against coalition forces remain high - October was the third deadliest for U.S. troops since we invaded. Nearly 2,100 U.S. troops have been killed and tens of thousands of Iraqis are dead. The war has cost $220 billion dollars and reconstruction funds have gone largely unused because the security situation has failed to improve. Rep. Murtha, a highly decorated 37 year veteran of the Marine Corp, rightly recognizes that given this situation a military solution imposed by the U.S. is not feasible.
